This is not a new technology and has been used in colder countries for more than 70 years.
Energy output is based on a four to one ratio, for every kilowatt of energy, four times the amount of heat is generated.
Heat pumps absorb heat from the ground or water. Heat is harvested from the introduction of a low boiling point refrigerant, in a pipe, in the ground which is then distributed by the heat pump. This can be used for heating systems or reversed using a heat exchanger to provide cooling.
These system are used widely across the UK, especially in poultry, porcine and large glass houses.
