Wind turbines are seen in increasingly large numbers, the largest of which are off-shore in Wind Farms. On-shore Wind has favourable social impacts compared to other renewable energy technology, in that it is the lowest in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.

It may surprise you that the first wind Wind Turbine to generate electricity was installed by James Blyth at his home in Marykirk, Scotland, back in July of 1887. The technology has been developing ever since. The majority of onshore horizontal axis turbines (commercial) range from 100 kilowatts to multi-megawatt machines, vertical axis turbines tend to have smaller outputs.
